OUR BOOKING POLICY
ARTISTS/PERFORMERS INTERESTED IN A BOOKING AT THE LAKE COUNTY FOLK CLUB, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE REACHING OUT TO US.
OUR WORLD:
Generally, we present concerts the third Sunday evening of each month. On occasion, when there is a fifth Sunday in a month, we present a “bonus” concert. This means that typically, we have somewhere between 12 and 15 concert events per calendar year. Our mission is to provide the finest “listening room” possible, where a variety of folk, roots, Americana and similar music (primarily acoustic, both traditional and contemporary) is performed by both local and national touring performers. The club is run entirely by volunteers with a passion for acoustic music who love what they do. Our venues are intimate spaces (60 -100 seats) and our devoted audience members are engaged, respectful and participative. We book artists for concerts, months in advance, sometimes as much as 12-15 months. We present local and touring artists from across North America and Europe. Performers are paid about 80% of the door. The Club is happy to assist with (but takes no portion of) sales of recorded media and other artist merchandise. THE CHALLENGE: With only a dozen or so concert opportunities a year, we unfortunately cannot accommodate all the talented artists who deserve to be booked. We receive hundreds of submissions from artists who would like to be considered. As a result, we have a significant backlog of folks we'd love to present, and the list continues to grow. This is not meant to discourage you, but to explain why we may not get back to you, and why the odds of a booking are tough. Please remember, we're all volunteers here. HOW TO SUBMIT A BOOKING INQUIRY: First, check our concert listings and our gallery to get an idea of what concerts we typically present. If you are local, or travelling through town, consider attending a concert or open stage event to check out the space and get to know us. We do not consider booking rock bands, hip-hop, electric blues, or spoken word programming — it's just not our niche. Also remember that we are a small performance space and that we rarely present groups larger than three or four persons. There is not a whole lot of room for massive equipment set-up either. After reading the above, if you feel you are a good fit for our club, please complete the form at the bottom of this page to be considered. (Please do not submit “hard-copy” informational material or recordings.) We'll contact you if we would like to discuss a future concert opportunity. Understand that we cannot respond to all submissions, and that multiple submissions for the same artist won’t help your chances. Please don't take it personally. We respect your artistry and professionalism, and wish you the best of luck. Scott Engstrom President, Lake County Folk Club |
